I'm already confused on how to build everything from scratch, there's been so much discussion lately, and no single page describes the whole (current) process, that I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but can't find the answer. $ git clone git://git://git.gitorious.org/gumstix-oe/mainline.git org.openembedded.dev $ git checkout over-2011.03 $ #bitbake already installed $ bitbake omap3-console-image . . . NOTE: package libxml2-native-2.7.8-r9.1: task do_populate_sysroot: Started NOTE: package libxml2-native-2.7.8-r9.1: task do_populate_sysroot: Succeeded NOTE: Running task 184 of 5168 (ID: 1288, virtual:native:/home/gera/src/overo-oe/org.openembedded.dev/recipes/gettext/gettext_0.18.bb <http://gettext_0.18.bb>, do_patch) NOTE: package gettext-native-0.18-r5: task do_patch: Started ERROR: Execution of 'quilt --quiltrc=/home/gera/src/overo-oe/tmp/sysroots/i686-linux/usr/bin/quiltrc push' failed with exit code 1: Applying patch autotools.patch patching file gettext-runtime/man/Makefile.am Hunk #1 FAILED at 159. 1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- rejects in file gettext-runtime/man/Makefile.am patching file gettext-tools/man/Makefile.am Hunk #1 FAILED at 186. 1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- rejects in file gettext-tools/man/Makefile.am Patch autotools.patch can be reverse-applied NOTE: package gettext-native-0.18-r5: task patch_do_patch: Failed ERROR: Function 'patch_do_patch' failed ERROR: Task 1288 (virtual:native:/home/gera/src/overo-oe/org.openembedded.dev/recipes/gettext/gettext_0.18.bb <http://gettext_0.18.bb>, do_patch) failed with exit code '1' ERROR: 'virtual:native:/home/gera/src/overo-oe/org.openembedded.dev/recipes/gettext/gettext_0.18.bb <http://gettext_0.18.bb>' failed all help will be appreciated... I guess I'll be going through all the errors and problemas everybody had, one after the other... I'm trying to take notes, but it's truly hard. gera |

The procedure you're following is correct, the problems appear to be caused by different build hosts. The steps you performed work perfectly on my machine running openSuSE 11.4. According to other posts on this same list these exact steps also work perfectly for people running Ubuntu 10.10. Ideally either: 1) these steps work perfectly for everyone (i.e. bitbake handles host differences transparently) 2) additional notes could be added to the official instructions describing any host-specific changes which are required to build I think we're in the process now of building up the list of what needs to be adjusted for which hosts. |

Does anybody have any idea what can I try? I tried bitbake -c clean gettext, and then building, and had no luck. I don't know what to do :( gera |
