I've a verdex pro for which I want to install version 1.5.3 of jamvm. There is a recipe at present in the com.gumstix.collection for jamvm_1.5.0.bb which just seems to require jamvm.inc which does all the work downloading code from the mirror/jamvm-${PV}.tar.gz I thought that that being the case if copied the 1.5.0 recipe and called it 1.5.3.bb jamvm.inc would go and download the correct version of the code and build it. No such luck. Can anybody advise me on the correct approach to writing an updated recipe. Thanks a million for any help. |

Arigead, is there a special reason why you want to use jamvm 1.5.3? Because jamvm 1.5.0 and classpath 0.96.1 are part of the gumstix oe repository I guess if you try to switch to jamvm 1.5.3 an classpath 0.98 you get a lot of compiler issues. I just tried to build classpath 0.95 once using bitbake classpath-minimal recipe and got a lot of building errors ... > I thought that that being the case if copied the 1.5.0 recipe and > called it 1.5.3.bb jamvm.inc would go and download the correct > version of the code and build it. No such luck. I think for changing the version you need also to change in com.gumstix.collection/conf/maschine/include/gumstix.inc PREFERED_VERSION_jamvm to 1.5.3 ... but this is just my understanding which is also not very deep ... I played around with it as well, but also without any success... Did you have any progress till now? Would you like also to move classpath to version 0.98? best regards Gerhard Arigead schrieb: > I've a verdex pro for which I want to install version 1.5.3 of jamvm. > There is a recipe at present in the com.gumstix.collection for > jamvm_1.5.0.bb which just seems to require jamvm.inc which does all the > work downloading code from the mirror/jamvm-${PV}.tar.gz > > I thought that that being the case if copied the 1.5.0 recipe and called > it 1.5.3.bb jamvm.inc would go and download the correct version of the > code and build it. Hi Gerhard, I was ultimately trying to use Jxta and there's a bit of a problem in Jamvm_1.5.0. I contacted the Jamvm list and was told that the problem is fixed in version 1.5.3 so I was building that. I was able to build it by simply creating the bb file but I have to build it with bitbake -b myfile.bb I had the recipe in user.collection/packages/jamvm/jamvm_1.5.3.bb but just bitbake jamvm would not pick up the recipe for some reason. That's where my problem lay. Anyhow I remembered the -b switch and built 1.5.3 so all good. I now need to create another thread about installing the version I've built.
