Hi Linus.. You have to switch HWUART and BTUART with the following gpio setup: echo "AF1 in" >/proc/gpio/GPIO42 echo "AF2 out" >/proc/gpio/GPIO43 echo "AF1 in" >/proc/gpio/GPIO44 echo "AF2 out" >/proc/gpio/GPIO45 Put this in /etc/init.d/S30bluetooth at the beginning og the "start" procedure and change the tty in /etc/default/bluetooth from ttyS2 to ttyS1. /Daniel Frederiksen Linus Casassa skrev: > When I boot I get the message: > > Initializing random number generator... done. > Starting 32kHz clock...Settled > > Starting Bluetooth subsystem:Trying baud rate 115200... > No response after reset > No response from BT module > Trying baud rate 921600... > No response after reset > No response from BT module > Trying baud rate 115200... > No response after reset > No response from BT module > Trying baud rate 57600... > No response after reset > No response from BT module > Can't initialize device: Success > > So I log in the gumstix: > > [root@gumstix ~]# echo "AF1 in" > /proc/gpio/GPIO42 > [root@gumstix ~]# echo "AF2 out" > /proc/gpio/GPIO43 > [root@gumstix ~]# /etc/init.d/S30bluetooth start > Starting 32kHz clock...Settled > Starting Bluetooth subsystem:Trying baud rate 115200... > No response after reset > Read wrong response size: 5 > 0x04 0xff 0x02 0x05 0x01 Trying baud rate 921600... > No response after reset > No response from BT module > Trying baud rate 115200... > No response after reset > Read wrong response size: 5 > 0x04 0xff 0x02 0x05 0x01 Trying baud rate 57600... > No response after reset > Initialization timed out. > [root@gumstix ~]# > > What am I doing bad? Daniel and Linus, I have a verdex XM4-bt and console-vx. Here's the build release information. DISTRIB_ID='gumstix' DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION='' DISTRIB_RELEASE='1410' DISTRIB_CODENAME='' BUILD_DATE='Wed May 16 15:22:40 PDT 2007' BUILD_HOSTNAME='azazel.hughes-family.org' I followed Daniel's instructions "manually" and everything worked fine. When I edited S30bluetooth, I had to divert slightly. The four echoes need to be set within the start stanza after the modprobe of gumstix_bluetooth and proc_gpio. I've now followed the Mac OS X instructions to get PAN working and hve successfully ssh's into the verdex. Thanks Daniel. As a newbie, I guess the next step is to build a new image. I bought a Belkin USB device and ended up with rt73 instead of rt2570 driver needs. I can't make it work :/ # hciattach /dev/ttyS1 gumstix Trying baud rate 115200... No response after reset Read wrong response size: 5 0x04 0xff 0x02 0x05 0x01 Trying baud rate 921600... No response after reset No response from BT module Trying baud rate 115200... No response after reset Read wrong response size: 5 0x04 0xff 0x02 0x05 0x01 Trying baud rate 57600... No response after reset Initialization timed out. # In the file hciattach.c I found static int gumstix(int fd, struct uart_t *u, struct termios *ti) { ... } else if(retval == READ_LOCAL_VERSION_RP_SIZE + 6) { // The 6 is 0x04 0x0e 0xnn 0xmm 0x01 0x10 ... } else { printf("Read wrong response size: %d\n", retval); for(j=0; j<retval; j++) printf("0x%02x ",resp[j]); continue; } So it is expecting to read somthing finished by 0x04 0x0e 0xnn 0xmm 0x01 0x10 with is more than 5 hexagesimal numbers. Can anyone give me a compiled working kernel and filesystem so that I can probe my gumstix? I don't think that I have bad hardware because I have tested getting the same numbers in 2 verdex. Thanks. I have the new pba31308 bluetooth module. Hope that is a good clue.
