So, day one with gumstix and I've already broken it :-) Hoping someone has some
good advice ...
I was playing around with u-boot, trying to increase the baudrate parameter (as
downloading new images was taking an awfully long time). First I tried a 'setenv
baudrate 921600', followed by a 'saveenv'. The I figured this might be a bit
ambitious, so I went back with 'setenv baudrate 115200'. This time, unlike when
I tried the very high speed u-boot asked me to change my connection to 115200. I
then tried a 'setenv baudrate 230400' to which the gumstix replied
(approximately, didn't write it down!) 'Now change your serial port to 230400
and press enter' followed immediately by 'Error: please reset'. I pulled the
power, although in retrospect I figure maybe it wanted me to push the little
button. Now I get nothing over the console when I power the gumstix !
I've tried all the combinations of old and new serial parameters I can think of
and still nothing. I don't think it's making it through the bootloader, because
I figure I would still see linux booting as I didn't change the boot command
serial parameters. I'm thinking maybe I've mucked up the u-boot environment by
trying to set a speed higher than is possible.
Anyway, any advice appreciated :-) I'm going to try and put together an ersatz
JTAG wiggler this evening and try reflashing the thing, but I'm a little
concerned that this wont help if it's not the u-boot sector but the
configuration sector that's fouled.
Thanks in advance,
The configuration is embedded in the u-boot code now, in the first 2
sectors. Should clear itself up nicely if you re-write u-boot

Cool. Thanks for the reassurance.
I've built a crufty wiggler, but the macraigor site is temporally down
(?) so I'm without Commander ! Some things are destined to be tricky ...
