We have this deal going with UPS where we can get it to you in the UK -- but re-reading your post, probably what you're trying to do is avoid the shipping charge. My parents are going to the UK in about a month though, and I could give them one or more to mail to you from there... How much is it likely to cost with the ups charge? Serial null-modem cable too? Unless you already have one then you'll=20 most likely want one so you can get console access to the waysmall. It'd be $216.75 including shipping, not including the null-modem cable.=20= Extra $12 for the cable. That's by US Mail, whose overseas delivery=20= agents are sometime a bit unreliable. By UPS it's almost exactly $35=20 more, but you've got a much better chance of not having the package=20 returned to us as undeliverable. Looks like the Royal Mail will charge =A34.45 for the package if shipped=20= from inside the UK, and an extra =A30.50 for insurance if you want that=20= option. I have a waysmall that I have been messing with for several months. Recently I have been working on getting the USB running. I have had no luck. Somewhere I read that the problem might be that the connection between the daugherboard and the gumstix might not be working correctly. After I took the thing apart it was obvious that not all of the feet could contact the pads because the holes in the daughter board aren't in the correct location. Has anyone else had or noticed this problem? What should I do about it? I am apprehensive about scraping on the board. I also would have to make a new enclosure. |

My way small also stopped working after a while. The old style way small. But I had taken it apart and put it together a lot. I made a break out board and now connect it to another board I made that is connected with a standard pinout. I used parts from the original waysmall and have it all working now, including the USB. The old style connector is a bit of a pain and is not actually as precise as you can make one yourself. There's a bit of play in the board's position. I made a breakout board that simply maps the 24 pins in their original position to a 2mm spacing header. I do have another board that I "messed with" a bit, soldering wires and such. It doesn't work anymore. Actually, it stopped working when I played with the flash, but some time later, after all the messin', when I finally had a jtag cable I can't fix it. Who knows what happened, but I'd be inclined not to mess too much it's possible I broke something doing that, but maybe try and make a new break out board. I understand that Gordon was thinking of making some breakout boards, maybe he can make one for the old style stix to help those folks out. Just a thought. However, my USB did work from day one no problem. I've attached a photo of my new way (not so) small. It has in addition a GPS module, 8 a/d convertors and 8 i/o ports. I don't know if the i2c chips work yet. I still have to compile in the drivers for them. That'll be interesting I guess. - Kim > I have a waysmall that I have been messing with > for several months.
