Hi all, I have searched nabble for an answer to this question but have not found it. Is there a way to tell what revision of Linux is used for a given prebuilt image? I'm talking about the images located here: http://cumulus.gumstix.org/images/angstrom/developer/ and here: http://cumulus.gumstix.org/images/angstrom/factory/ Thanks, Greg Greg Ericksen Senior Mechanical Engineer ger...@re... 7642 Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855 Office: 301.279.7970 Fax: 301.279.7973 Mobile: 202.531.5606 www.redXdefense.com |

Let me know if you get a good answer. I have an issue were I want to build a kernel with one additional kernel module, but I'd like to know precisely which kernel recipe/config to start with. Apologize, meant to send that to Greg only. Hi Greg, If you have a serial connection open during the boot sequence, then you should see something along the lines of: Starting kernel ... > Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the kernel. > *Linux version 2.6.34* (daniel@oneway) (gcc version 4.3.3 (GCC) ) #1 Thu > Mar 8 15:49:23 MST 2012 Is this the version you are looking for? /daniel RoadNarrows LLC http://roadnarrows.com On Wed, Mar 14, 2012 at 2:09 PM, Greg Ericksen <ger...@re...>wrote: > ** ** ** ** ** ** > > Hi all,**** > > ** ** > > I have searched nabble for an answer to this question but have not found > it.**** > > ** ** > > Is there a way to tell what revision of Linux is used for a given prebuilt > image? You can also use "uname -a" from the shell on the gumstix. -- View this message in context: http://gumstix.8.n6.nabble.com/Kernel-version-on-prebuilt-images-tp4588666p4590954.html Sent from the Gumstix mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

I don't know about finding which recipe it was built from, but you may be able to get the config. On the running system, run gunzip -c /proc/config.gz | less Note that this will only work if the kernel was built with IKCONFIG_PROC enabled. Hope that helps, Simon. |

As far as I can tell you have to install the image first to find out what version it is. It would be nice if someone at Gumstix put a README file in each of the directories with build info in it.
