recompile the kernel and say "yes" to the virtual terminal option.
make sure that the pxafb module is compiled in or loaded at startup.
if you run into problems with compiling the kernel with virtual
terminal option, deselect the option of vga console (or something
similar), this module is broken as far as i know.
I'm having trouble figuring out the exact options in the menuconfig. Where is the virtual terminal option? Under character devices? I see "Virtual Terminal" there.
When I eable "Virtual Terminal", I see another option for "Support for terminal on virtual terminal (new)". I thought this was what you were referring to when you said "deselect the option of vga console", but when I do this, rebuild of the kernel fails. So, I'm guessing I'm not disabling the right thing.
Maybe I figure it out. Only after enabling "Virtual Terminal" under "Character Devices" does the option "Console Display Driver Support" show up under "Graphics Support".
There I disabled VGA text console and enabled Framebuffer Console (and some VGA fonts).
Now, it at least compiles ok.
Did I get it right, or will I still have problems when I start up Xbfdev on the gum?
You are right. that is what you need to do if you are using
menuconfig. if you have already enabled the framebuffer then you will
be able to test out tinyx without any problems.
