Several notes of what I have found with the
working bluetooth. Please correct any errors you
I am using a Belkin F8T030 bluetooth to ethernet
gateway with the bridge software update.
If you use pan, rfcomm is not avaiable. If you
try to leave rfcomm running, your
/var/log/message file will have a lot of getty m
I altered /etc/network/interfaces to comment out
iface usb0, eth0 and wlan0. I also added auto
bnep0. I only use bluetooth for networking.
If you use pan, you should see a "Inquiring"
searching for NAP and Connecting messages then a
"Registered protocol family 17" line in
Depending on how many bluetooth devices are in
range, it may take several minutes before the NAP
is discovered. You can in /etc/default/bluetooth
add the pand option --connect <bdaddr> to connect
directly to a known NAP.
The current bluetooth script properly disconnects
from the NAP at system shutdown. I can now cycle
through startup and shutdown without crashing the
Device in range discovery on windows XP is
I cannot see the device long enough to discover
services. Windows CE (iPAQ 1945) works fine.
