Thanks again. I will try rebuilding right now. You have been a huge help.

Fortunately I don't have this problem as I have the kernel and entire file
system on a micro SD card.

The default size limit for the kernel is 1048577. You can increase this by
putting the following line in your gumstix-custom-verdex.conf file (which
lives in /conf/machine/)

KERNEL_IMAGE_MAXSIZE += "1070000" (or whatever).

If you change this the kernel build should work as the size checker will be
happy.

I think your real problem though is the kernel has to fit into 1MB (1048576
bytes) because that's the size of the partition - any bigger and it won't
fit! I don't have any experience of whether there is a workaround for this,
but there should be a number of posts on this forum on the topic.

Are you trying to build the drivers into the kernel rather than have them as
modules? If so, I'm not sure I understand why - if you build them as modules
the kernel will be smaller and then you can install the modules with the
ipkg manager or manually if you like. There are 5 modules in total - if you
find the /kernel directory where your modules live, the four modules other
than pwc live in /kernel/drivers/media/video and pwc appears to live in it's
own /pwc directory in /video. You could put then in by hand and then do a
depmod -a so the dependencies are recognised by the system.

Hope this helps

Brian
