I've asked the same question before with no answer yet.
I'd like to find something that would work as well...for the same reason(s).

I'm using the LCD holes for GPIO lines and don't like having to solder
individual wires into each. Would much prefer a pin header.

I've found that an IDC 40-pin header fits perfectly into the 40 through-holes (which are in a rectangular grid), since they are on 0.1 inch spacing.

The 24 through-holes (in a zig-zag pattern) are a different matter.  Can anyone suggest a standard header that would fit these?  Perhaps gumstix designed these for a standard connector, but I haven't been able to find that in the breakout-vx docs.
