I am a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, AZ. We are developing a video telemetery unit for use in an autonomous helicopter. I am interested in using several webcams (3 right now) to give the pilot a wide field of view, and I am very interested in using the Verdex board's USB Host capability to recieve video data from those cameras. The idea is that we can use Intel's free Integrated Performance Primitives for Linux to do JPEG-2000 compression on the board, then send the data to a WiFi transmitter over ethernet using the netCF board. My question is this: due to the fact that JPEG-2000 encoding is probably going to use a lot of processor power with just one camera, let alone 3, is it possible to stack Verdex boards (or interface them together somehow) so that they can handle processing data from 3 cameras? Or, better yet, do you think that one Verdex board might be able to handle it?
Thanks everybody!
