Ah, thanks!

On a related note, do you understand the notation:  http://install.source.dir.local

I see this in many of the files for the ti-dsp codec information and I have to manually edit it to point to file:// since I have to put the files from TI under the recipes/ti/files directory.

Seems like I am doing something wrong, .... but I don't know how to get the system to do otherwise...

Thanks in advance,

Charlie

I am trying to build the TI gstreamer and ti-dvdsk demos for the Gumstix Overo.

I configure my environment with MACHINE=overo in my build/conf/local.conf

When build the system and it gets to 'ti-codec-engine', it complains that the DSPBIOS path is not set.

In looking in the 'ti-codec-engine_2.24.01.bb, it depends on the ti-dspbios-native in a line like:

DEPENDS_append_omap3 = ' ti-dspbios-native'

It seems that my setting my machine to 'overo' causes this to be ignored.

Anyone know how I should work around this?  Do I make a new line for 'DEPENDS_append_overo'?  What processes this DEPENDS_append line?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try doing a pull and rebuild.

Upstream OE recently introduced the SOC_FAMILY variable and override
mechanism.  Unfortunately their choice of value (omap3) conflicts with
the omap3 machine in the Overo branch.

I pushed updates that change SOC_FAMILY to omap3-soc to eliminate the
confusion with the omap3 machine.

For those who are curious, the omap3 machine type builds a kernel that
supports multiple omap3 based boards.  It is quite handy for those of
us doing kernel development since it is useful to test kernel builds
on multiple hardware platforms before submitting upstream patches.
This feature allows you to do just a single build cycle and test the
same image on multiple platforms.
