I’m not certain it is the same for the Tobi expansion board, but I know for the Chestnut expansion board to connect most peripherals (definitely a mouse and keyboard) you need to use a powered USB hub connected to the board. The board does not provide enough power by itself.

I hope it is that simple for you,

Subject: [Gumstix-users] Tobi expansion board USB not working

We just bought Overo Fire COM with Tobi expansion board. I am using Flash default image that came with overo. Everything works fine except USB host port. I can't even hook up keyboard or mouse. I also tried to use USB hub but nothing seems to be working. I looked online and see lot of people have the same issue with the tobi expansion board but couldn't find the solution related to this issue.

Is it possible that we got a bad Tobi board? Or Is something I need to do to turn the USB on?
