Good morning Peter,
LCONF_VERSION in bblayers.conf should be set to 4, not 6. Thanks for pointing this out :)

FWIW: Here's the (somewhat misleading) error I get when I follow the instructions at https://github.com/gumstix/Gumstix-YoctoProject-Repo in a clean workspace and then invoke bitbake:

    Your version of bblayers.conf was generated from an older version of bblayers.conf.sample and there have been updates made to this file. Please compare the two files and merge any changes before continuing.
Matching the version numbers will remove this message.
"meld conf/bblayers.conf conf/bblayers.conf.sample" is a good way to visualise the changes.

I don't normally use repo so I can't be sure, but:

I believe this change broke the standard build procedure, as the meta-gumstix revision in the manifest incorporates changes to bblayers.conf that are incompatible with the version of bitbake in the poky revision.  Specifically, the repo manifest moved meta-gumstix from revision 8ddbe85 which was on branch denzil to revision fd11d97 which is on branch master.  meta-gumstix branch master is completely unrelated to branch denzil.

I think the intent was that the master branch in the repo builds be stable and the following commit should be used in the repo specification:

* 22ceac3 (origin/denzil, omap/upstream/denzil) [Fri Jan 4 08:15:16 2013 -0800] Added bbappend to fix the broken kmod source URI
* d5a4b02 [Thu Jan 10 09:32:32 2013 -0800] Updated Steve's kernel repository location
* 8ddbe85 (omap/gumstix-yocto/master) [Wed Oct 10 20:25:37 2012 +0000] Fixed alsa-state. Does not interfere with systemd anymore.

Oops my apologies! Please try again as I pushed the commits to denzil branch as well. Somehow I only pushed kmod.bbappend to the master branch.

I think Adam committed a .bbappend file to fix the kmod problem, but it seems the repo config file didn't get updated to point to the new commit.

Thus, users are still going to hit the problem if they follow the standard build procedure.

I think I submitted a pull request for this, but I may have missed something.

Hello,

Following the procedure here : https://github.com/gumstix/Gumstix-YoctoProject-Repo/blob/master/README.md

I have problems building gumstix-basic-image

First, I've had to change the git repo for the kmod recipes
second had to remove the do_configure_prepend() section because bitbake was complaining that it was not able to touch a file.
then, had to remove the patch information and finally the system complains about the md5 that has changed.

Using the COPYING file asked in the recipes to add the md5 information bitbake tells me, each time I change the COPYING file, the md5 will also change ...

Anyone else got this error and knows how to solve it ? it seems to be a few month old unpatched problem.

Thank you
