Hi!

Thanks, you are right, for some strange reason I hade hooked the connections straight thru, rookie mistake ;) But now another problem, I just get garble out on the hyper terminal (thou some output is better than none ;-). Anybody know why this might happen ? I have no handshake activated, baud at 11500 8-N-1 (tried with different baud rates as well) Hyperterminal detects the emulation as VT100J after a while, is this correct? Could it be my super cheap USB/Serial converter or a faulty connection? It seams like the wiki pages are down at the moment to...

Best regards

You must connect to the FFUart.  Connectthe PC TX to the GS RX, the PC RX to the GS TX, connect the ground  to ground.  Thats all I connect.  Now if the Break out uses TTL level signals then you'll need a converter from TTL levels to RS232 levels.  Next you'll need to set the buad rate correct, andflow control to none.

I forget what the buad rate is.  I think its 38400.

Subject: [Gumstix-users] Canot connect using serial on Verdex, strange ouput.. HELP!

Hi
I have been trying to conect my new gumstix Verdex XM4-bt using the breakout board and a USB->serial dongle. I have tried the FFUART, BTUART and STUART. The only time i get anything up in hyperterminal is whet im conected to the BTUART, then i get the following up in my Hyperterminal window:
____
Does this mean anything? Is my board fried or am i doing somthing fundamentaly wrong? I have checked and rechecked the settings in hyperterminal and the settings in devicemanager for the serial port and their both "115200 8-N-1" as per the instructions in the wiki. And are using the correct pinns on the rs232 (2 TXD,3 RXD and 5 GND, also tried the RTS,CTS on the BTUART) The wiki also mensions somthing about a reset button, but dos the Verdex bords have this?
Hope sombody can help.

Best Regards
