What recipe are building? the only thing wireless related I did outside of what is in the recipe is IW, to properly patch it. I use the desktop image and boot it into RL3 if all I need is to use the console. Also why cant you DL the patches you need on your desktop and just put them on the SD card manually before you boot it up on the overo? I just got home from a long trip and have not been playing the overo for about a month so I will dig out the stuff in the AM if you are still struggling. But here is the recipe I last built for my drone that I used as the starting point to compile the things I needed on the overo.

It is a desktop image just so you know, but maybe you can see what you are missing on yours?

Hi J.L.

Looks like I’m going to need your help / advice here.

For various reasons I won’t go into, I don’t have a working TOBI board and therefore no easy

Internet access L and the driver patch requires access.

I did manage to use Bitbake to build a rootfs with aircrack-ng and task-native-sdk installed.

The Aircrack-ng package appears to run Ok.

But I’m not sure what to add to the recipe to get wireless support  …

I tried to “make menuconfig” and I got an error message.

I think I’m almost there, if I just figure out how to add “mac80211” support ?

Just add task-native-sdk and any other tools you need to the image build and you are good to go :) Keep me updated and I will help you get that and any others up and running on there, just let me know. I think you can do make from the OE directory but I never tried that. Only took a couple hours to get a handful of pentest tools on there.

Good to hear your drone is coming along J

I think you are right about compiling from source.

I assume I just burn myself an image that has the compiler etc, and then compile locally.

Or I think I can do just a ‘make’ from my overo-oe directory on my Ubuntu box …

As for the Overo Earth. Last time I checked it was still on back-order L

I’ll let you know how things go …

Its coming along great, though trying to find something more powerful now. Nothing comes close with the gumstix size with a daughterboard as of yet. Whens your new board come in? Are you interested in me dd'ing my image? I think once you get your board though you will see its not that bad to setup and in case you are doing other related type programs, I ended up installing from source on a bunch as it was easier for me than figuring out the recipe route on some of them.

I can dd the image I use if you want more than just aircrack installed, but there will be irrelevant things as well unless you plane a drone :P It really wasnt that tough just DO NOT USE OPKG, the version is old and do not build the version of your wifi driver with the kernel, build it from source or make a recipe for it, but literally for aircrack I just did like I said in the previous post. I just had the ssl-dev files needed and sqlite-dev files needed for airoscript-ng, you can get the needed files built into a stock recipe easily. patched mac and the wifi driver and install. I am away from home right now so do not have access to my notes right now so going off memory and on my cell. But will be home in about a day and can give more detailed actual steps. But from what I remember thats what I did and I ended up following off the installing from source directions on the page at aircrack and patched as they said and worked just doing it from source. I honestly never could get the "included" recipe to work. Hope that helps some, when I get home if you havent got it I will post back.

Hi there J.L.;

No it wasn’t a crack against you. Sorry if you thought so. I just wanted to make sure that people took me seriously.

I got a couple of weird responses to a previous post L

As for Aircrack, sounds like you have done this before and I could REALLY use your help J

All I have tried so far is the opkg install, to make sure the software would even run, before trying anything else …

Right now I am waiting for my new Overo Earth to arrive, so I can get started again. In the mean time I’m trying to

do my home work so I’m good to go when it arrives …

All I did was build the kernel with the normal recipe and just went into menuconfig and built what I needed as modules. I installed my wifi driver from source and patched, made sure to put openssl-dev files on the image and sqlite-dev. Then just built it all on my overo directly. Really was no different than doing it all from source on a normal nix dist. Was there an issue you had in building or did injection fail? I also do not use the opkg install aircrack, compile from source. Did you try enabling mac80211 as a mod and not even building ieee? If you need more help let me know whats not working, feel like part of it is missing?
