I Started to wonder if the Thumbo had the same pin-outs...
So I compared it to the proto-board jig I had setup for the Pinto-TH the labels for the pins I used for +5, GND matched V_BATT and GND. I guess Thumbo and Pinto-TH are pinout compatible for power...

I powered it in the same way, and sure enough it powered and booted.  I then swapped it out for the Pinto-TH, and tried a few times. Nothing happened.

This validates my setup, and strongly points to a bad Pinto-TH board.

Will anyone second this motion, so I can get the RMA request going to get a replacement?

Yes, I can verify that works for me.

That is *very* strange!  Are you positive you've connected to the
right pins?  That's the only theory I can come up with that would
explain what you are seeing.

That would be surprising, since I don't believe that there are any
active components between the power connections and the Overo sockets!
 Should be just trace.

That was going to be my next suggestion.  Try using an ohm meter to
verify that the power traces to the 70 pin connectors are good.

No other ideas :-(

Good luck!
