I found the following info in a post a while back...
# disable wifi
echo 0 > /sys/class/gpio/gpio16/value
# disable bluetooth
echo 0 > /sys/class/gpio/gpio164/value
The current reading drops from 0.48 to 0.42 amps after executing the above.

I have found that if I pull the reset pin low on the wifi chip that kindof works. I think gpio16 not sure. But I am unable to restart or reload the firmware on the wifi mod. So without a full board rest it doesn't turn back on.

So once down it stays down.

Also I know this is a ugly hack :(. But it does drop the power

I think a new version of the libertas driver might help but I have not found out of to get that done.

Hello,

I have an Overo Fire with wi2wi module on it providing Bluetooth and Wi-Fi interface. I want to reduce the power consumed by the overo fire. So i turned off bluetooth using /etc/init.d/bluetooth stop and Wi-fi by iwconfig wlan0 down.

However i do not see any reduction in power consumed. So i need to know other ways so that at the hardware level i should be able to enable and disable it. I believe by giving low/high inputs to particular GPIO pins it should work.

So is there any one who have tried it and can someone help us??
