I get giberish too at first but then it loads up. Have you tried booting from an micro-SD card yet? There is a tutorial on the getting started page called creating a bootable micro-SD.

Subject: [Gumstix-users] Issues with usb console connection

Iím having trouble establishing a kermit connection to the gumstix. Using a palo43 expansion board. Setting up kermit per these instructions (http://www.gumstix.net/Setup-and-Programming/view/Overo-Setup-and-Programming/Getting-started/111.html), and typing Ďconnectí, after plugging in the power cable to the palo, some binary gibberish gets printed to kermit, and I canít login to the gumstix.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a way to flash the onboard nand storage by connecting to the host usb port?
