Probably too many more words about this... But I wonder how often this is happening to this otherwise-cool product. :)

Now that you mention it, the first trouble he actually reported _predates_ the bags being used. And yes, the bags I've measured all have pretty high resistivity. Sorry to have contributed to misunderstanding, and thanks for the "course correction". Al-foil is 'way more conductive, 'tis true. The bag issue is quite likely a red herring.

What do you mean by that? Was this "wiggle" as opposed to "slop"?, if so, in which axis? See-sawing around the long axis of the connector? Or what?

Or did that "loose"-ness related to your not feeling any little  "click" when the connector slid home? Was it overall sloppiness of the connector? Do the connectors seem intact, and not deformed or cracked?

Misalignment of pins could conceivably have contributed to a short-induced failure (most likely an overcurrent, I suspect). But I don't have deep knowledge of the/your boards, so that versus the possibility of parts on adjacent boards shorting in some way remains a question worth your getting an answer to. I'm sure curious.
