Is there any way that I can possibly fix this?

I was having the same problem so I tried to update the uboot. I just followed the tutorial here http://www.gumstix.net/Software/view/Developer-how-to-s/Reflashing-using-a-serial-connection/111.html. I was able to successfully update the uboot and install oe on 2 gumstixs, but when I tried on a third gumstix (and different computer) I am afraid that I have deleted the old uboot without having installed the new one :/

Here are the commands that I entered http://rafb.net/p/9KUy2O78.html
after typing 'reset' the gumsitx did not reboot like it did the other 2 times, instead it just hung. After manually unplugging it I am now unable to connect to the gumsitx at all. I have tried this with 2 different gumstixs and now they are both in this unusable state :/

Any advice?

Hi Chuck,
It looks like you're connected, but I'm guessing the gumstix is
waiting for some input (it's probably already booted and waiting for a
log in)...I would try pressing enter a couple of times...also since
you are trying to reload u-boot you may just want to unplug it and
plug it back it (all the while leaving the terminal up).
