I assume you mean using Ubuntu or OpenSUSE on the desktop for your development environment?

I'm using Red Hat Enterprise Linux, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use either of the distros in question.

When I started using the Gumstix it was recommended to use Ubuntu 8.04.

After several months away the webpage instructions look a bit different.

Can I now use the latest Ubuntu or OpenSUSE?

I have this problem from time to time. The solution I found was to simply wait a few minutes then try again. Make sure nothing else is using up your bandwidth.

Hope it helps.

Subject: [Gumstix-users] git pull issue

I haven't updated my gumstix work area in about 4 months.
I just tried a git pull and got the following.

->git pull
remote: Counting objects: 28298, done.
fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly
fatal: protocol error: bad pack header
->pwd
/home/andy/overo-oe/org.openembedded.dev/recipes

I think the command is correct, but obviously something is wrong.
Do I need to create a new area or can I fix this somehow.
regards
