Don' have my stix handy but a "ipkg --list | grep perl" will list all of the available perl packages. Its possible there is a package that just contains IO:Socket. Although I found a bunch of the packages I wanted were not there, and I found trying to cross-compile perl stuff to make my own packages a nightmare.

What I ended up doing was swithing a bunch of stuff to python, for whatever reason the python pakages seem to be much more complete.
