Hi John,

Have you read the guide on the gumstix site detailing how to setup a build environment?

http://www.gumstix.net/Overo/view/Overo-Setup-and-Programming/Setting-up-a-build-environment/115.html

You should have a git repository containing the OE recipes, and an svn repository containing the bitbake source. I just had a look in my org.openembedded.dev/recipes folder and there seems to be versions for gstreamer right up to 0.10.23 so you shouldnt have a problem getting a relatively recent version.

What do you mean you "tried to update the gstreamer package folder"? OE and bitbake should handle dependencies for you. Once your build environment is setup and you have built an image to download to the board you should be able to build gstreamer by typing:

bitbake gstreamer

from within your build directory.

Mike,
The gumstix.net site instructs you to setup the gumstix-oe folder using
subversion(svn).  When I do svn update it doesn't seem to have an update for
my specific package of interest, gstreamer.  I can't do git pull since it is
not a git repository.

I tried to update the gstreamer package folders with the contents of the
openembedded/gstreamer folder and the trail of dependencies seems endless
and I think I'm moving farther away from actually getting the packaged
updated.
