Ed,

The XM4-BT only has 16MB of flash, and 1MB of that is reserved for the kernel.  So given that the only X11 image that you could use would be Angstrom-gumstix-x11-image since it is <15MB in size.  This filesystem image really just boots into the Matchbox window manager -- you won't have anything like a browser or image viewer installed.  Once you have a netmicrowifi-sd installed with a microsd card you can install additional software onto it, or you can install a filesystem onto the microsd card and boot from it directly.  Info on how to do that is located in the docs at gumstix.net

I have resolved my serial port issues, but I am now wondering about
what the correct image would be to use with my system. Ultimately, it
will be a Verdex XM4-BT with a breakout-gs, and a Netwifimicro-sd
card. (At the moment, I am just using a Verdex XM4-BT and a
consolelcd16-vx card, due to a bad netwifimicro-sd card.)

But, my question is, what is the best image to download and install?
I need to be able to develop an embedded application using bitbake,
but I also need to be able to surf the web and view jpg and pdf
images, as well as web sites. I also need to control an lcd display.
(Currently the Samsung display provided to work with the
consolelcd16-vx, but eventually a different display. I see that the
angstrom~x11~image~glibc is available, along with the following
angstrom~x11~32mb
angstrom~qtopia~
and others. What is the most versatile for my application? I assume
that the angstrom~x11X~image~glibc or the angstrom~x11~32mb is the
best. Any thoughts or suggestions? What is the difference between these?
Thanks
