HOW TO UPDATE WITH BITBAKE THE ROOT FILE SYSTEM AFTER CHANGING
_______________________________________________________________________

THE LINUX KERNEL AND COMPILING IT IN A NEW uImage?

I am using bitbake.

(and Gumstix PALO43 for master on a SPI bus, 1278 for slave).

Creating a new uImage by changing the Linux kernel code and re-compiling it
________________________________________________________________

is explained here:
_______________

http://blogs.elphel.com/2009/12/openembeddedangstrom-kernel-workflow/

but creating an accompanying new root fs is not explained in there.

Looking at "Installing modules" in:
_____________________________

http://bec-systems.com/site/521/best-practices-for-kernel-development-with-openembedded

shows two commands for creating a new rootfs after a new uImage was created:
__________________________________________________________________

rm -rf modules_install; INSTALL_MOD_PATH=modules_install make modules_install
rsync -av modules_install/lib/modules/2.6.22 root@192.168.1.115:/lib/modules

but the first command gets this error message:
__________________________________________

No rules to make target "modules_install". STOP

That's because I am using bitbake and the commands are using make.

If I put the first uImage and first root file system on a SD card of PALO 32, it boots and starts Linux well.

If I put a modified uImage and the first root file system on the SD card, it boots, starts my modified Linux
_______________________________________________________________________________________

and the Linux crashes (per kermit console display of the log of booting).

Please help if you can.
