This was previously covered in Nov 2009 by the mailing list item

As previously advised, the work to migrate Verdex Pro to newer kernels
2.6.30 and 2.6.31 was already completed by myself and others.
The patches were submitted in November to Steve Sakoman at Gumstix but do not seem to have made it into
the official Git repository.

Seems that someone did create a Git verdex branch at http://gitorious.org/gumstix-oe/mainline/commits/verdex
but it does not yet have the required files, patches, recipes, etc in it as I sent to Steve in order to use newer
2.6.3x kernel and updated applications/rootfs similar to what is available for overo.

There is also existing a separate Git repository that was started by Bobby Powers for 2.6.32
also back in November, 2009 but I don't know the status of that one.

I have been running Verdex Pro XM-BT with up to date kernel, wifi, bluetooth, etc since last summer.
Only things still not completed for 2.6.30 and 2.6.31 were .... audio-stix support  as
well as some untested robostix related code changes that Mr Hylands was kind enough to
provide.

As I mentioned above ... the code changes and patches to bring it to 2.6.30 were released to Gumstix
last year with the expectation that someone there (or on the list) with more time to put it all in
an accessable Git repository and update any related Wikis.   Minor changes were needed
to use 2.6.31.  (I looked into 2.6.32 but found some inconsistencies needing further patching;
Bobby seems to have done some work on that in his repository)/

I suspect the explanation is that Steve got caught up with other priorities ...

Anyone wants the code, I can package it up and send it to you directly.
Anyone volunteering to maintain the Git repository that Steve set up (as branch from overo-oe in gitorious),
then please be my guest ,.,  I can supply what I have to him/her.

Hi mlq,

Perhaps this thread answer your question:
http://old.nabble.com/Verdex-and-OE-td27316400.html ?
Short answer -- you certainly can run 2.6.25 but at this point, you'll
have do the update yourself.
