Hi Ben,

I'm afraid I don't have any numbers for power consumption of the expansion boards. Battery life will vary with capacity, discharge rate, temperature, etc. Your best bet for specifying a battery might be to set up a power supply, try to replicate the operating conditions as closely as possible, and measure the average power consumption. Do keep in mind that power consumption could increase as battery voltage drops.

The Gallop43 has a built-in charger for two-cell NiMH batteries. Refer to the schematic and datasheet for more details:

Hi Neil,

Do you know how long these battery packs you have highlighted (say the 5000mAh and the 10000mAh) could roughly be expected to power the Gallop43 with both a screen attached and permanently on and the GPS permanently on too?

Do you know whether it is possible to get a small charging rig for this kind of battery as well? So that I could include it in my enclosures to make a fully concealed unit.

Cheers,

Ben

The Gallop43 requires a two-cell 2.4V NiMH battery. Compatible packs of various capacities are available at:

At checkout select 'MOLEX: #50-37-5023 (POSITIVE RIGHT)' from the connector drop-down menu.
