Hi,

cp -a  org.openembedded.dev/recipes/linux  user.collection/recipes

Make your changes in user.collection/recipes/linux/
bitbake -c clean virtual/kernel
bitbake virtual/kernel

cd tmp/work/gumstix-verdex-angstrom-linux-gnueabi/gumstix-kernel-2.6.xx-rx/
mkdir -p linux-2.6.xx-new/folder/folder
cp linux-2.6.xx/folder/folder/file.c linux-2.6.xx-new/folder/folder
modify linux-2.6.xx-new/folder/folder/file.c
diff -urN linux-2.6.xx/folder/folder/file.c linux-2.6.xx-new/folder/folder/file.c > patchfile.patch
copy patchfile.patch to the appropriate place in user.collection/recipes/linux/kernel_name/
add into user.collection/recipes/linux/kernel_name.bb

bitbake -c clean virtual/kernel
bitbake virtual/kernel

Enjoy

Hello,

The wiki has instructions for reconfiguring (menuconfig) the kernel, but
is there instructions for modifying kernel source?

In particular, I want to apply the change here
http://old.nabble.com/USB-OTG-port-power-issue-with-webcam-td28492360.html

But this is probably going to be a one time change, and I don't plan on
doing any kernel development, so setting up a git repository and all
that seems like a bit overkill.

What would be the right way to go about doing this?

Thanks!
Matthew
