Looks like ide-disk is the issue.   This worked on buildroot  r1066  I beleive.
 
What change do we need to make to the buildroot to fix this for others?   PCMCIA should be loading the module for us.

    I ran into this issue the other day.  Can you check and see whether ide-disk
is loaded?  I had to modprobe it before I could mount.
