looks like you are fine to me, the uBoot was not erased and you successfully wrote the rootfs. i guess 1.1.4 does not have the katinstall command so your options are to either 1. upgrade or 2. just use the copy command. as far as what the copy command *is*, i can only guess....i would wait for someone else who knows it a little better. i am 99% percent sure your gumstix is fine though. it just didnt get the kernel installed; so it won't boot, but your uboot is fine.

It's currently running u-boot 1.1.4 but the instructions don't say
anything about needing 1.2.0. Is this thing bricked, or can I still
recover somehow? I haven't powered it off. Waiting...
