i guess i will have to end up getting another board as while i can solder small stuff, im not exactly comfortable about it...a 50 dollar zipit is one thing but 170$ verdex is something else entirely  :S

i suppose i could try to find the points on the robostix before it enters the converters ( and so to be unaffected by the voltage converted toggling problem ), but still edgy on that as id have to go through schematics and such.

OK - here are a few other options:

1 - Get some other non-robostix 60-pin board and use the console on that

2 - There are a couple of pads on the verdex for FFUART that the JTAG
presses against. You could try soldering some wires to these (not
recommended unless you're good at soldering small stuff).
