I've been using MPC for a few years now and I've never had any problems with it until a few months ago. After I updated MPC a few months ago (through getting the CCCP update) everything ran smoothly as usual, but out of the blue, it started acting up. Now it takes anywhere from 10-20+ minutes just to load a .mkv file! Even ordinary .avi files take at least 2-5 minutes to load up. That's absolutely ridiculous! Here's the thing though... It only does this with the first file I open using MPC after my computer has been booted up; all subsequent files load up normally if I can get the first file opened without MPC completely freezing up.
Example: Load up .mkv File A. It takes 10-20+ minutes to load. Once loaded, if I open .mkv File B, it opens almost immediately. Ditto for File C, D, etc. If I reboot and load .mkv File Z, then there's another 10-20+ minute delay again.
The files themselves are not at fault, since they play perfectly fine on my other computer using MPC. I have no idea why this has happened and any help towards solving this problem would be much appreciated.
Thank you for your time. ^_^
I am having the exact same problem. Anyone know what's going on here?
I too have exactly the same problem. Any ideas?
Same problem here also. Same file opens in seconds in another pc and on another pc it doesn't seem to open at all (who's waiting for 10-20 minutes to open file, huh?). I have same version of the MPC on both computers.
I had the same problem; maybe this helps for you as well. Go to View > Options > Playback > Output. Try changing whatever DirectShow Video is set to. After switching this to something else my .mkv files would load instantly again.
