I have just installed MPC and VLC to try both out. I played a DVD and in MPC, it shows the closed caption no matter what I try. The VLC plays the same video fine. Is there a setting that I am over looking somewhere. I like the MPC player the best but not if it shows closed captioning all the time. Thanks.

I don't know of a permanent option to disable it, but did you try the Subtitle Language menu under the Navigate menu while the movie is playing? You can also right click in the video window and choose Navigate from there.
