Well, for a long time I've been having a problem where Media Player Classic would crash when I leave it minimized with a paused video for an extended period of time, and I would have to terminate it with Task Manager, but I never put much thought into it until one time, today, it made my computer BSOD. At first I figured it probably wasn't Media Player Classic's fault, but that changed hastily after my event log's error (the BSOD rebooted too fast for me to read it):
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001e (0xc0000005, 0xa00ee8fe, 0x00000000, 0x000000e4). Microsoft Windows 2000 [v15.2195]. A dump was saved in: C:\WINNT\Minidump\Mini082007-01.dmp.

As that page says:
This problem occurs when an application opens a lot of handles but never closes them. This has been seen when an application continually opens a registry key but never closes it. When the application is closed the system attempts to close all of the keys but runs out of system resources while doing it.
