I just tried using my iphone with gtkpod from svn.
if it can help somebody, this is how I did it :
I jailbraiked it and installed ssh and the bsd subsystem on my iphone
(there is many howto about this)
I connected to my iphone from my linux box using ssh and created a link
iPod_Control which pointed to iTunes_Control in /var/root/Media/
on my linux pc, I mounted it using sshfs :
sshfs -o allow_other root@...:/var/root/Media/ /tmp/iphone
I compiled gtkpod / libgpod from svn and configured it to use
/tmp/iphone as mount point.
that's all. note that after uploading music to your iphone, you have to
reboot it to access it from the music player.
my problem now is that it can't create the artworkdb file :
Couldn't create /tmp/iphone/iPod_Control/Artwork/ArtworkDB
this is what the Artwork directory looks like :
# ll /tmp/iphone/iTunes_Control/Artwork/
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 2007-09-16 02:38 ArtworkDB
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5505024 2007-09-16 02:38 F3001_1.ithmb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 344064 2007-09-16 02:38 F3003_1.ithmb
can somebody help?
I tried to delete the ArtworkDB and resynchronize but it is still empty
and says that it couldn't be created.
except the ArtworkDb problem, it works fine.
