I have recently converted to Ubuntu 11.04 and have tried using Amarok and now gtkpod 1.0.0 to load music on my ipod touch. GTKPOD doesn't seem to recognise neither of the ipod's. Can someone help me as everything I have found seems to point towards missing files or the need for loading commands. I was told it should be a plug and play scenario.

Any help will be great.

Update: The error message I receive :

    IPOD directory structure not found:

Could not find iPod directory structure at '/home/donald/.gvfs/Dad%27s iPod'.
If you are sure that the iPod is properly mounted at '/home/donald/.gvfs/Dad%27s iPod', it may not be initialized for use. In this case, gtkpod can initialize it for you.

Do you want to create the directory structure now? (I click yes and it gives the following default ipod mountpoint directory: /home/donald/.gvfs/Dad%27s iPod)

It also gives Model selection: xA623

    I click ok and get
    Warning! The following occurred:
Error initialising ipod: Problem creating ipod directory or file.

  • The "GVFS" part looks suspicious to me...
IIRC the Gnome Virtual File System isn't always accessible from programs using the UNIX file system API (open/read/write) or another API based on that.
