gSky Digest 0.4 released

A new version of gSky Digest has been just released, as the next step towards version 1.0. The release adds favorite locations feature, as well as a database of world cities to ease setup of geographic coordinates of the user.

Here is a list of changes:

v. 0.4 2008-10-19
New features:
- added "% illuminated" snapshot to Moon panel
- added predefined locations to choose from
- implemented list of favorite locations
Performance improvements:
(none in this release)
Bug fixes:
- in windows installer, language query removed after uninstall
- keyboard arrow traversal in date edit box fixed
- fixed calculation of width of date edit box
- latitude placed always before longitude where coordinates are presented
- fixed width of date/time table columns to accommodate all possible values
- fixed spelling of en:coniunction and pl:perigeum

gSky Digest 0.3 released

A new version of gSky Digest has been just released, as the next step towards version 1.0. The release contains mainly performance improvements, as well as introduction of system tray notifications - for now only sunrises and sunsets, but more to come in further versions.

Here is a list of changes:

v. 0.3 2008-01-11
New features:
- added system tray notifications about basic events - Sun rise/set
- added notification on/off switch to application configuration
- in event time mode - time is adjusted when observer location changes
Performance improvements:
- redesigned binding between ui and data model - models could now be switched at runtime
- main window shown faster at startup - before sky model is loaded
- optimized refresh of event list - previous list is reused
- redesigned usage of java generics in the code
- commons logging used to log debug information
Bug fixes:
- changed hue of sun in the icon symbolizing a day
- fixed naming of dusks and dawns
- localized friendly date format
- added range checking to date selection control
- fixed transfer of date from event time mode to selected time mode
- under windows installer now waits for uninstaller to finish

gSky Digest 0.2 released

A new version of gSky Digest has been just released, as the next step towards version 1.0. It is a feature release and the list of changes is below:

gSky Digest 0.1 released!

This is an initial release of gSky Digest

gSky Digest allows you to quickly find out what's happening on the sky
and what you can see from your backyard. You can also perform simple
simulations of future events by changing clock time in many ways.
All this information is easily accessible from the system tray. The accuracy
of all calculations is in arc-second level. This means that times are
accurate up to seconds, with exception of rises and sets, where
atmospheric refraction prevents from reaching accuracy better than one minute.
Remember that to have accurate values, you have to specify your geographic
location in degrees at least with 3 decimal digits. It's best to obtain it
from GPS. Alternatively you can read this from a map, or use Google Earth.
