Recently i downloaded fastStone screen Capture (Size 2.2mb) and install it.. and i 'm amazed that it uses much much little resources than other available Screenshot/Screen Capture Tool..
FastStone Uses 500kb-1mb memory only when idle (5-7mb when in used) (Starting Time is Much Faster Than GreenShot). And
GreenShot uses 13-15mb Memory When idle (17-20Mb almost when in use)..
and Greenshot Size is almost 1.2mb only and faststone size is 2.2mb(much features than greenshot).. so it'll Be Good If Greenshot would be More Optimized so That it USes Much Much Less Resources...

I guess Faststone is written with native Win32 code, which makes the memory usage a lot less and more importantly "in the hands of the developer"

We use the .NET framework, which has a lot of advantages but the memory usage is not one of them. Still, it looks worse than it actually is!!

We wrote an article on it:
    http://getgreenshot.org/faq/greenshot-uses-x-mb-of-my-ram-why-is-that/

Still, we will try to improve the usage with every version. I expect 2.0 to use a lot less.

    Best wishes,
    Robin
