Hi all I have been using grecipe for a while and I have to say it's the best piece of software I have seen in its kind. So, congrats! The only downside I see to it, is icons. With Gnome moving to the Tango guidelines, grecipe-manager's icons stand out more and more. I have a bit of experience with Inkscape and I could try to make some new icons according to these guidelines, if you like that is. Would this be useful at all? |

Absolutely! Some of the icons are ones I've done (and I have no particular skill for this), and some are ones other folks have been nice enough to do along the way. Creating improved icons would always be appreciated -- the worse that would happen is we (which I guess is me, but I'd take input from anyone) would reject them. Anything that was in line with the tango guidelines and given to the project under the GPL would be a wonderful contribution. Also, if you have specific ideas about what needs to improve, I'd be happy to see them on the list for discussion -- generally, though, I'm pretty open to anything. I personally like the metaphors of "recipe box", "recipe card" and "shopping list"/"shopping cart", but I could be swayed by just about anything. A longer term possibility would be to incorporate more icons to make the interface more spiffy -- I could see default shopping categories (produce, dairy, etc.) getting icons associated with them, for example. That might happen actually, I have just *a bit* of experience so anything could come out, unfortunately. > Also, if you have specific ideas about what needs to improve, I'd be > happy to see them on the list for discussion -- generally, though, I'm > pretty open to anything. > I personally like the metaphors of "recipe box", "recipe card" and > "shopping list"/"shopping cart", but I could be swayed by just about > anything. I don't have anything against those metaphors, so if someone else does this might be a good moment to speak up. > A longer term possibility would be to incorporate more icons to make > the interface more spiffy -- I could see default shopping categories > (produce, dairy, etc.) getting icons associated with them, for > example. Sure, that could be possible on the long run. I'll just try to do the current ones... and I don't know if you will like them! I can only guarantee that I'll try. Regards, David. |
