We've been using GraphicsMagick for a while in our project, but recently we had to switch to ImageMagick because we required DDS (Microsoft DirectDraw surface) support.
So ImageMagick supports it, but GraphicsMagick doesn't. However, I would prefer to switch to GraphicsMagick again if it would support DDS.
Can it be done? Pretty please with sugar on top?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
DDS support was contributed to ImageMagick by someone named Bianca van Schaik who is a game developer from the Netherlands. Since implementing DDS looks like a lot of work, it would be useful if interested parties would contact Bianca to see if the original contribution can be contributed to GraphicsMagick under GraphicsMagick's X11-style license. Otherwise we would need a volunteer with the time and energy to develop this as an independent work.

The web site by Bianca is at http://pecunia.nerdcamp.net/. Her patch was posted at http://pecunia.nerdcamp.net/static/files/imagemagick-dds.patch. We would need Bianca's approval to use and distribute this original work, but with the GraphicsMagick license header rather than the ImageMagick license header.
