Yes, this is the installation problem. Newer versions of autoconf/automake are trying to configure GRAMPS to run under the python site-packages directory, but GRAMPS is expecting to be in /usr/share or /usr/local/share. As a short term fix, don't actually install the program. Run it from the source directory (<wherever>/gramps2/src). $ python gramps.py Should do the trick. If you don't have gnome-python-2.0.2, you make get a segfault (typically happens if KWord is not installed - older versions of gnome-python had a problem handling mime-types that aren't installed).
