Kevin, 

We spoke before, but since your situation might have changed since then: 
what version of GNOME desktop do you have installed? If it's GNOME2 then 
you need python-gnome2 package (python-gnome is for GNOME1 desktop). 

If you have GNOME1 desktop, then gramps2 will not be able to install 
and/or run. Instead, you need to get a pre-0.9.x release.

This line tells me that you're trying to install 0.9.x release. 

> # apt-get install python-gnome

This means you're getting old (GNOME1) python-gnome. but gramps 0.9.x is 
not compatibe with that.

Let's sort this out first and then see if there's more dependencies to 
satisfy. 

By the way, if you run unstable, why don't just
# apt-get install gramps
