This is not really a bug unfortunately, read: http://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Recover_corrupted_grdb so the grdb is not a file but only a part of a database. These issues are resolved in version 3.0.x which runs on a fully embedded database. For Ubuntu you find a .deb package on our website.
