Concerning berkely db: subversion uses also berkeley as one of the back-ends. http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.1/ch05.html#svn-ch-5-sect-1.3 nicely lists the limitations. Note that they provide a hot-backup of the database that can be used as a drop in replacement if something goes wrong: http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.1/ch05s03.html#svn-ch-5-sect-3.6 So in GRAMPS terms, they can backup .grdb in a way that can be used as a replacement of the corrupt file. They also offer the flat text output for portability, which is like the gramps xml, http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.1/ch05s03.html#svn-ch-5-sect-3.5 Benny Quoting ben...@ug...: > On one hand I agree. > > However, I have 2 working .grdb (with real data), I have a test > directory with 6 > .grdb for 2.2 and another test directory with 6 grdb for 2.3 version. > > I would like to be able to still open them from the place I point > gramps to.
