That's great, thanks. I can now open the file. =20 It gives a different error when closing, now: 18392: ERROR: gramps.py: line 147: Unhandled exception Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/gramps/ViewManager.py", line 455, in quit self.state.db.close() File "/usr/share/gramps/GrampsDb/_GrampsBSDDB.py", line 983, in close self.env.txn_checkpoint() DBInvalidArgError: (22, 'Invalid argument -- txn_checkpoint: failed to flush the buffer cache Invalid argument') I'm not really concerned about this, though, as I've managed to export the database as a GRAMPS package and re-import it into a new one. All the data seems to be there and OK. Thanks a hell of a lot; I was resigned to having lost the database. It's great that I've gotten in back :-) Cheers, Bob On Sat, 2007-01-27 at 13:23 +0000, Richard Taylor wrote: > Bob >=20 > Here is something that you might try. >=20 > Make a backup copy of the .grdb file and your ~/.gramps directory.=20 >=20 > Then rename ~/.gramps/env to something else. >=20 > Now try to open the .grdb file. >=20 > I have found this to be required when I have had problems in the past. >=20 > Regards >=20 > Richard >=20 > On Saturday 27 January 2007 11:47, Bob Ham wrote: > > On Sat, 2007-01-27 at 00:33 +0100, ben...@ug... wrote: > > > Which version of GRAMPS are you using? > > > From 2.2.3 there are automatic backups on exit that might help you. > > > > It's version 2.2.2. > > > > > Also, I suppose your database is a GRDB file, yes? > > > > Yes > > > > > Normally killing a GRDB > > > should not corrupt your database, but there where some problems in > > > version 2.2.1/2 > > > > Oh dear :/ What kind of problems? > > > > Cheers, > > > > Bob >=20 --=20 Bob Ham <ra...@ba...> |
