I've been using Gramps 3.3.1-2 on Windows XP since it came out a year ago and love it. Thanks from the great product and support. I'm looking at upgrading my desktop to Windows 7 and wanted to upgrade Gramps first, so I bit the bullet last night and upgraded Gramps. Backed up everything first using XML plus media. Everything seemed to go well, but I kicked myself for forgetting to save the ToDo list as a text file first. I converted both of my trees and poked around a little and everything seemed fine except for a blank ToDo list and a missing Census Gramplet, so I went to bed and slept well. This morning, neither of the trees would open. Fortunately, I had done a backup of both before the upgrade. I imported both trees and diddled a little with the media path. Once again, everything seems fine again, plus my ToDo list and Census Gramplet is back. Anything I ought to be aware of before continuing or that I could have done better? Thanks, Dave |

But it would be nice to know why your trees suddenly don't open. Seems like a very strange evolution... |

Benny, Strange indeed, at least until I gave myself a dope-slap on the forehead and realized I was running it from an old shortcut and it had installed in a new folder. So 3.3.1-2 couldn't open the 3.4.2-1 databases. Everything I've tried so far seems functional now and I was able to copy and paste my ToDo list to boot! Sorry for the confusion.
