This graphical report will show the relationships between people. You can control who is displayed by applying a filter (which you can customize). The relationship graph report creates an input file for the GraphViz "dot" program. This will layout the graph and output it in one of several formats, including PostScript, FrameMaker MIF, PNG, JPG, and other formats. Arbitrary graphs are difficult to produce (at least attractively produce), so "dot" is used to produce the graphs. Don |

And the current development version of Gramps will do also the conversion to these formats for you if you have graphviz installed (thanks to Alex :-)). > Arbitrary graphs are difficult to produce (at least attractively > produce), so "dot" is used to produce the graphs. Relationship chart has also the nice property that it can show families relations instead of child-parent relations (with optional marriage date). This will make the chart much cleaner / understandable. I made it default in the development version. - Eero |

Not in stable version. Alex P.S. Recently graphviz entered main (before it was non-free) in Debian. This is why the most recent gramps package in Debian recommends graphviz. --=20 Alexander Roitman http://ebner.neuroscience.umn.edu/people/alex.html Dept. of Neuroscience, Lions Research Building 2001 6th Street SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455 Tel (612) 625-7566 FAX (612) 626-9201 |

When you generate relatinship graph, select the correct filter in the dialog. Try "Entire database". You may also first navigate to your father and then generate relationship graph with descendants of your father -- that should include both you and your brother. I've added for the development version of Gramps a report option to select whether Graphviz uses horizontal or vertical orientation. It's also easy to change directly from the .dot file. Just exchange the order of the letters for the "rank" command. - Eero |
