Its been a couple of days, so I've been wondering if anyone has
encountered problems with 0.6.1.
We have encountered an odd problem with certain combinations of python
2.X and some versions of the GNOME libraries. In this case, gramps
refuses to start, and dies with a traceback error about problems with
It does not affect distributions using python 1.5.2 (such has Red Hat),
and it does not seem to affect all distributions using python 2.x. It
does appear to affect SuSE 7.3.
The traceback looks something like:
gdk_imlib ERROR: XPM data wth colors > 32766 not supported
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "./gramps.py", line 16, in ?
File "gramps_main.py", line 55, in ?
from PedView import PedigreeView
If you have encountered this problem, please let me know. I have a fix
for it. If it is being widely encountered, I may need to release a patch
