I'm back from a week of vacation, and I am making some changes. I have fixed a lot (but not all) of the bugs that are outstanding. I have made some significant changes to the edit person dialog, and I am looking for feedback. If these changes are liked, I will modify the rest of the dialogs to be similar. There are several problems with the current implementation. Jochen pointed out several in a previous message. I can list even more. These include: 1) The current "Close" button discards changes that have been made to many of the entry forms (such as Name, Gender, etc.), which is the correct thing to do. However, any changes to the events are saved regardless if you hit "Close" or "OK". This is inconsistant. 2) In the list windows (such as the event list), the "Add" and "Update" are confusing, and sometimes its not obvious which entry is being changed. 3) Sources and notes (edited by pressing the Note or Source buttons) are attached to the current event. If you have an event displayed, change the type, change the date, add a note, and press "Add", a new event is created with the displayed data, but the note gets attached to the old event. I have tried to solve these problems. I have modified the Event entry (and only the event entry) to use a new scheme. Pressing "Add" or "Edit" brings up a new dialog box, so it is obvious which event you are editing. The "Close" button has been replaced with a "Cancel" button. If you press "Cancel", any events that have been modified, added, or deleted are ignored, and the original events are kept. Grab the latest CVS version, and try it. If it is liked, I will modify the Address, Attribute, Name, and other forms to act similarly. Please provide feedback, either directly to me, or to the mailing list. -- Don Allingham dal...@us... These changes look good to me and I would like to have the other dialogs beeing changed in the same way. Bernd -- Bernd Schandl Tired of spam? Use spamcop.net to complain! |
